more editing

After the refilm, I began to edit the biting again to change the sounds used. The first scene took me a long time to edit because some of the things I wanted to do were not working. i had to go through many YouTube videos.

Re-film

I did the re-film again with the new updated script, but still decided to keep some of the scenes from the other shoot, but ultimately, I had to refilm from the beginning. When I was shooting, I decided to keep the last scene of the old shoot because I felt like it built the tension and gave a climax in the short film.

Introduction editing

I  started editing the intro for the beginning. I wanted to go with a very ominous feeling intro to start building on the scaryness of the film. I laid many sounds to build on the sounds in the beginning.

This is the final product

Teaser!!!!!!!

I am creating a teaser for my Instagram page by adding sound effects to one of my videos. I will do this to tease the presence of the watcher, but not reveal him. This is to create suspense and anticipation.

Social media page

I decided to make an Instagram page for my short film. I had run into some technical difficulties like not being able to create an account. this is a message that oftain popped up and I had to look for alternative ways to create an account.

Finally, I was able to create the account, and I began to build my online presence. I create the first post and add a bio. I also created a #TheWatcherShortFilm

Inspo for Instagram page

I drew inspiration for my Instagram page from two official horror movie accounts. I noticed that they maintained a consistent visual identity by using the same fonts and color schemes as their films, which helped reinforce the overall aesthetic. I applied a similar approach by consistently using the Storm Gust font and the dark, moody color palette from my film across all social media posts.

Additionally, I observed that behind-the-scenes (BTS) content and teaser clips were their primary promotional tools. These posts effectively built anticipation and gave audiences a glimpse into the making of the film. Based on audience feedback from my own survey, many people said they’d like to see similar content. As a result, I replicated this strategy by including BTS footage and teaser clips on my page to engage viewers and build hype around the release.

begining editing

I wanted the beginning screen to start off black with a TV effect and graininess, with the words The Watcher written in red. I began looking for fonts

The theme I am going for is a horror film that has sharp edges in red. The reason I chose red was because it is a color that signals danger and fear, and also because it is a contrasting color with green, and the film has a green tint to it, so I thought it would complement it well. I will use this to emphasize the fact that it will be a horror short film by matching the vibe of the font to the short film. I then looked for videos of black screens with the graininess and old TV aesthetic to match the vibes. After this intro, it will fade to the first scene of him sitting on the couch.
I had an idea to add a clock ticking in the background because it will give the feeling of how quiet it is and the fact that there is nothing around. This will be done to add to the overall scaryness of the film.

planning for re filming

I had to film again because my teacher said that the watcher was revealed too quickly and that they should not meet until the end. This led to my film being too short because I didn't have enough footage. I ended up redesigning my screenplay and storyboard to accommodate the new improvements that I had made to the beginning and end.

Editing first scene

This scene has been a lot of trial and error, especially with the sound that I will be using. When looking for the sound of the watcher passing, it was difficult to find one that matched the aesthetic and the overall feel of the video. In my video, the sound has to be carrying because there is no dialogue, so the use of sounds has to create the mood and match the vibes of the video. This is me exploring different sounds for the watcher sound, clock ticking, and remote sound:
Then I had to add the sound to where I thought they should go. This was difficult for me because there were many clips and many audios to choose from, which made me feel over wellemed. but at the end I was able to find which sounds I liked best and put them in the right places.

BYE BYEEEEE

This marks the end of my coursework. It was a fun but hard task to do, but I still enjoyed the whole process. I learned a lot from this when...
